Steven holds a BA in Cinema and English from LaTrobe University, with post graduate studies at Victorian College of the Arts. He has been actively making films for the past 15 years working in fiction and non-fiction, education, music, and drama. He has made everything from a feature film about aliens, to a family program for the Victorian Government, to shooting Iron Maiden performing to a sold out audience at Rod Laver Arena.
Steven grew up the son of Yugoslavian migrants who settled in Melbourne in the 1960’s. He was an active member of that community until the Bosnian war in the early 1990’s, a war which cost him the life of his only grandfather. When not working on a creative project, he is assisting students with disabilities.
His works have been screened at the Tribeca Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival, St Kilda Film Festival, Flickerfest, Austin Short Film Festival, the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, the Australian War Memorial Archive. He has been featured in FilmInk, TimeOut, Mamamia, Inside Film, Cinema Australia, and has been a guest at Columbia University, San Diego State University, and University of New South Wales.
